High Course

High Nitro photoThirty-five feet off the ground is the high course. Groups are invited to climb, balance, swing, zip, and challenge themselves while in the trees.

The high course works on team-building from a different perspective.  Watching peers take risks and push themselves beyond their comfort zone is rewarding, encouraging, and motivating.  Team building takes on a more personal perspective with the high course.  Focused more on overcoming fears, trust, and supporting and encouraging others, the high course is a learning playground for all ages.

Harnesses, helmets, and other safety gear are utilized.  Facilitators will walk participants through putting on the harness, teach them how to safely use the equipment, and allow them to feel what it will be like before climbing the ladder to the treetops.

Sample Activities

Ground School

This is your time to learn how to use your equipment and get a feel for what you can expect when you get onto the high course.  Ground school is three feet off the ground.  We teach you how to transfer your carabiners and safety ropes. In ground school, you get to sit in your harness and feel what a fall may feel like.  You also get to practice how to get back up on the cables if you do fall.  All participants must complete ground school before going up into the high course

Log Ladder
A ladder made of logs and ropes is one way onto the high course.

Earthquake Bridge
The Earthquake Bridge is a bridge made of swinging boards.  In the middle of the bridge there is one long 2x4 step that spans 8 feet.  The steps get farther and farther apart as you cross the bridge.

Heebie Jeebie
Cross the cable by leaning on the ropes.  The more you lean, the more stability you will have.

Burma Bridge
This is a bridge made of rope and cable. The rope is tied off at the hand rails and the foot cable making an open, wobbly bridge for you to traverse.

Zip Line
The Zip Line is a 275-foot trolley and cable system in which participants exit the high course. Participants are connected to the trolley and launch themselves off a platform 35 ft. off the ground to ride safely to the end.

Leap of Faith
The leap of faith is a stand-alone, high element primarily used in our Low Course with one High-Element program.  Participants are encouraged to climb a tree to a 40-foot-high platform using the ladder and footholds provided. Once on the platform, the objective is to leap off the platform to a rope hanging 5-10 feet in front of you. Your group, still on the ground, then uses the ropes to catch and lower you safely to the ground.
